Eugene D Besser

Eugene David Besser, age 79, of Mankato, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Mankato House Health Care Center.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids. Memorials are preferred.

Eugene was born on July 29, 1929 in Vivian Township, Waseca County, MN. He was the son of Alvin and Louise (Neitzel) Besser. Eugene was united in marriage to Elizabeth Farley on February 24, 1951 in Taylor Falls. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 in Korea. Eugene became a welder and was employed with Paper Calmanson and W.T. Carlson Company. He assisted with 4-H and the Poultry Association. Eugene enjoyed upholstery work, gardening, flowers, and his cats.

Eugene is survived by his three daughters, Anne Besser of Coon Rapids, Lynne (Robert) Kent of Mankato, and Shawn (Robert) Redmann of Braham; six grandchildren; one brother, Vernon (Darlene) Besser of Waterville; also nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth in 1993; one grandson, Kyle; one brother, Virgil.
