Ashley Marie Schendel, age 19, of North Mankato, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, North Mankato, with Rev. Vance Becker, officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Arthritis Foundation or Camp MASH.

Ashley was born February 17, 1990 to Robin and Bernadette (Vaubel) Schendel in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato West High School in 2008 and had just completed her freshman year at MSU-Mankato. She was recently employed at Oaklawn Health Care Center and part-time at HSI as a care attendant. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Ashley was involved with different activities with the Arthritis Foundation and their summer camp, Camp MASH. In high school she was involved with band, choir, and drama. She enjoyed singing, fishing, bonfires and hanging out with her friends, and spending time with her family and vacations.

Ashley is survived by her parents, Robin and Bernadette Schendel of North Mankato; brother, Aaron Schendel and girlfriend, Elizabeth Peterson of Mankato; two sisters, Heather and Kristen Schendel of North Mankato; niece, Hailey Schendel; grandparents, Dolores Vaubel, Jeanette and Jerry Koberg all of Mankato; aunts and uncles, Blake Schendel of Mankato, Dane (Tessie) Schendel of Elysian, Adam (Becky) Schendel of Mankato, Leah (Craig) Ogden of Nicollet, Colleen Vaubel of Eagan, Steve Vaubel of North Mankato, Dan (Kristy) Vaubel of Garden City, Tim (Karen) Vaubel of Mankato, Pat Vaubel of Mankato, Becky (Brad) Hollerich of Good Thunder, Mike (Amy) Vaubel of Faribault, Renee (Keith) Mann of Lake Crystal; also many cousins, other family and friends.

Ashley was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Howard Schendel and Robert Vaubel and great-grandmother, Hope Bromeling.
