Margot Schuette died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Laurel's Edge Assisted Living in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2009 at Hosanna Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Kosberg officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Margot was born on November 29, 1922 in Leipzig, Germany, to Otto and Gertrude (Geldner) Beier. Margot was baptized on April 2, 1923 at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig. Along with her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, Margot came to America in August 1923, landing at Ellis Island. She became a U.S. citizen on September 10, 1934. Margot was confirmed April 5, 1936 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waseca. In 1940 after graduating from Waseca High School, she graduated from the MN School of Business. Margot was united in marriage on June 22, 1947 to Hilton F. Schuette at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waseca. They moved to Hutchinson and were blessed with three children. Margot and Hilton enjoyed over 61 years of marriage blessings, ending with his death on April 12, 2009. Margot was employed as a bookkeeper at Miller & Miller Construction and a secretary at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School at Our Savior's and attending her own children's activities, was a member of Our Savior's Women's Guild as president and treasurer. Her Lord was an important part of her life. Margot and Hilton enjoyed their pinochle club for 50 years.
Margot is survived by her children, Neil (Sandie) Schuette of North Mankato; Linda (Tom) Piotrowski of North Mankato; Tom Schuette of Faribault; brother, Paul (Kathy) Beier of Coon Rapids; sisters, Lois Johnson of Austin; Alice Zellmer of Janesville; sister in law, Frances Downer of Glencoe; grandchildren, Michelle (Troy) Modrow; Tami (Darren) Scherer; Jesse Piotrowski, Katie (Luke) Volk; step granddaughter, Cari Wolf; great granddaughters, Taylor, Kyla, Brandy, Piper, Izzebella.
She so much enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. "They were an important part of her life."
Margot was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hilton; one sister, Frieda Beier; two brothers-in-law; and one nephew.
