LaVerle F. "Curley" Brack, age 84, of Mankato died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his home.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. James Pragman officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Monday, May 25, 2009 at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to VINE, ISJ Hospice, Our Savior's Lutheran Endowment Fund, or donor's choice.
Curley was born December 22, 1924 to Anton and Anastasia "Anna" (Corbett) Brack in Cosgrove, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa City High School and the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He served his country during World War II in the European Theatre and later in Korea. He was united in marriage to Vera Brandt on July 15, 1950 in Trimont, MN. He touched many lives while teaching and coaching for 30 years in Iowa before retiring. After retirement he and Vera moved to Mankato in 1989 and they spent winters in Arizona. Curley loved traveling, sports, coaching track, softball, football, basketball and watching sports and Hogan's Heroes on TV. Curley was a very loving husband and father.
Curley is survived by his wife, Vera of Mankato; two daughters, Cindy (Tim) Rollins and Bobbi (Peter) Hauser all of Lakeville; one grandson, Thomas Erickson; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Brack and Mary Brack both of Iowa City, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.
Curley was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, infant C.A. Brack, Cecelia Edwards, Luella Spratt, Bernadine Brock, Mary Agnes Soukup, and Catherine Brown; brothers, Clement "Tony" Brack, Leonard Brack, James Brack, Lorain "Tony" Brack, and his twin brother, LaVerne "Blackie" Brack.
