Leyetta Forsberg, age 89, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at St. Josephs Hospital in St. Paul.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Roger Knepprath officiating. Burial is in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Church. Memorials may be given for cancer research.

Leyetta was born on February 24, 1920 to Clifford and Cecile (Wright) Cole in Guthrie, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Mankato by Pastor R. A. Haase. Leyetta worked for various stores in Mankato and Defense Plants in L.A. and St. Paul during WWII. She graduated from Mankato High School and was united in marriage to Obert Forsberg on November 24, 1944 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She and her husband Obert lived and farmed in Belgrade Township. Leyetta served as a Sunday School teacher and was a ladies group volunteer. She also served as a court conservator, made quilts and worked for auctioneers. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Mankato.

Leyetta is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Tom Dietsche) Forsberg of St. Paul; two sisters, Colleen Clark of Monoma, WI; Sandra (Jerry) Ganske of Mankato; one brother, Jesse (Arlene) Cole of Albert Lea; two half sisters and one half brother; many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Obert in 2003, her parents, one brother, three step-mothers and one step-brother.
