Velma LaVonne Schulz, age 87 of Mankato, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mankato. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Pathstone Living or Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospice of Mankato.
Velma was born June 14, 1925 to Aaron and Rose (Hagemeister) Juliar in Decoria Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. She attended country grade school for eight years. She graduated from St. Clair High School with honors in 1942. Velma attended Mankato Commercial College and helped the family on the farm.
Velma was united in marriage to Roy Schulz at United Brethern Church in St. Clair, MN on June 28, 1944.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Mankato for over 50 years and an associate member at Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven and the Sunshine Club in Florida.
She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, cooking, baking, fishing, and spending time with her family. Velma and Roy enjoyed spending many winters in Florida. They enjoyed traveling to most of the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Greece, Australia, and beautiful New Zealand.
Velma's family includes three daughters: Cheryl (John) Adolphson of Rochester, Joy Schulz of Rosemount, and Dawn (Paul) Clouse of Smithville, MO; four grandchildren: Susan (Corey) Henke, David (Rachel) Adolphson, Sara (Brian) Trivette, and Jacob Clouse; sister, Cora Sjostrom of St. Peter; brother, Gordon of Niceville, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; a sister and two brothers.
