William Francis Marso, age 82, of Mankato, died Thursday, January 3, 2013, at his home with his wife and children by his side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato, with Rev. Ted Hottinger, officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary with a 4 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour before service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.
William was born October 21, 1930, to William and Zita (Henline) Marso in Mankato. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1948 and then from Mankato State Teacher's College with a Bachelor of Science degree in History. He was united in marriage to Mary Lorraine Germo on June 19, 1954. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army, the National Guard, and was a member of the American Legion Post 11. Bill owned and operated Marso's Clothing at the corner of Front and Main Street until 1969 and ended his career in real estate. He was a resource in the topics of history and religion, enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards, dancing, bowling, spending time with his grandchildren, and a good malapropism.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Marso of Mankato; three children, Ann Marso of Prior Lake, Joseph (Cindy) Marso of Shorewood, and Margaret (Dean) Rengstorf of Mankato; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth and Matthew Anderson, Samuel, Bridgette, and Jayne Marso, Mary (Ben) Kaus and Peter Rengstorf; two brothers, John (Rosemarie) Marso of Mankato and Thomas Marso of Minneapolis; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and son James.
