Priscilla Jane Brooks, age 78 of Madeira Beach, Florida and formerly of North Mankato, passed away of natural causes at her home late Saturday night July 9, 2011.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 6:00 pm at the North Mankato Mortuary-NORTHVIEW with Rev. Dawn Carder officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday before the service.

Priscilla was born on January 23, 1933 in Parsons, Kansas. She was raised and graduated from high school (1951) in Green River, Wyoming. After graduation, she returned to Kansas and attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas. While at Ottawa, she met the love of her life, Robert Scott Brooks of Mission, Kansas. They married on September 7, 1952. They were married for 57 years. They started a family and lived in Kansas for 17 years.

In July of 1969, they moved to North Mankato, Minnesota. While in Minnesota, Priscilla was very active socially in the neighborhood and was a member of a bridge club. Through the years she taught piano lessons, worked in a clothing retail store, and worked for Landkamers Carriage House and for Stan A. Smith Jewelers while raising three children and being a loving and supportive wife. After all three children graduated from high school and Robert retired as a professor at Mankato State University, they retired to a permanent residence in Madeira Beach, Florida.

Priscilla is survived by her husband, Robert; three children, Alice Musburger, Mark Brooks and John Brooks; five grandchildren, Ben and Sarah Musburger, Zach Brooks, Karen Gorman and Jeff Brooks; and one great grandchild, Penny Gorman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie T. Walker and her sister, Rose Marie Switzer, all of Green River, Wyoming.
