Duane Arthurs, age 83 of Amboy, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Mapleton Community Home in Mapleton.

Memorial service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2011 at Mankato Mortuary. Burial will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Northville Cemetery in Northville, South Dakota.

Duane was born January 5, 1928 to Hennessy and Maude (Miller) Arthurs in Mellette, South Dakota. He served with the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. On August 27, 1951, Duane was united in marriage to Madge Bacon in Norfolk, Virginia. They were blessed with three children. Duane enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.

Duane is survived by his three children: Joan (Mike McGuire) Braam of Mankato, Brenda (Dale) Zenk of Amboy and Tim Arthurs of Winnebago; six grandchildren: Tina Yets, Jennifer Roman, Jessica McDonnell, Andrea Zenk, Shane Wendland and Corey Wendland; and six great-grandchildren.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Madge; and brother, Phil Arthurs.
