Marcella Grace Oachs, age 87, of Mankato, died Friday, July 1, 2011 at her home following a 17 year battle with cancer.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2011 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Roger Knepprath officiating. Interment will be in Sterling Cemetery, Sterling Township. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at North Mankato Mortuary " NORTHVIEW, 2060 Commerce Drive, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Marcella was born on May 27, 1924 in Godahl, MN. She was the daughter of Eddie and Tilda (Helling) Frederickson. Marcella was united in marriage to Leslie D. Oachs on June 27, 1945. A lifelong Mankato resident, Marcella was a homemaker. Marcella was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking, flowers, jewelry crafts that she made and gave to her family and friends, playing bingo, bowling, and especially time spent with her large family.

Marcella is survived by her eight children, Patricia (David) Stierlen, Darwood "Woody" (Dianne) Oachs, Joy (Gary Sr.) Wiese, Richard "Rick" Oachs, Delphine (Ted) Hoogenraad, Bradley (Barb) Oachs, Annette "Annie" (Fernando) Bobadillo, Marsha (John Sr.) Reasor; 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Nelson and Sonja (Arnie) Smesmo; two brothers, Marlowe Frederickson and Alden (Maxine) Frederickson; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Oachs, Beulah McComb, Marlene Oachs, Barbara Oachs, and Helen Oachs; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie in 1998; one son; two daughters; and three brothers.
