Dale Henry Vogel, age 83 of North Mankato, died Friday, June 17, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato after suffering a brief illness.

A Celebration of Dale's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at North Mankato Mortuary " NORTHVIEW, 2060 Commerce Drive. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. on Monday at North Mankato Mortuary and continues one hour prior to service on Tuesday. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato Hospice.

Dale was born on September 13, 1927 to Peter and Daisy (Cords) Vogel in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in Mankato and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Dale was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Remus on September 28, 1946 in Mankato. Dale began working at Lundbergs as a teenager and later he and his wife, Dottie became owners of the store until their retirement. Dale was a member of the Y's Men's Club, the Mankato Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary Club. Dale especially enjoyed spending time with his extended family of children, grand and great grandchildren. He was a musician, playing the trumpet in a post war dance band and the Mankato Dixielanders. Dale was an avid Viking fan who enjoyed playing tennis and golf.

Dale is survived by his daughters, Susan (Rick) Leiferman of St. Peter, MN and Patti (David) Anderson of Houston, TX; son, John Vogel of Plano, TX; grandchildren, Corey and Kirsten, Brian, Bray, Holly, Jeff, Angie and Erin; great grandchildren, Jillian, Nicklaus, Jacob and Mitchell, Stella and Phoebe, Joshua and Jenna, Jackson and Cydney, and Virginia; brothers, Marvin Vogel of Shoreview, Eugene (Val) Vogel of Mankato, and Clark (Joyce) Vogel of North Mankato; also many nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; daughter-in-law, Cyd Vogel; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Vogel. He will be missed dearly by his family, relatives and friends.
