Delmar Harold Cords, age 74, of Mankato died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2011 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, rural Mankato with Rev. Al Girtz, officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date in Decoria Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Sunday at North Mankato Mortuary " Northview and will continue one hour before service at church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospice-Mankato.

Delmar was born June 28, 1936 in Mankato to Merlin George and Edna Lillian (Thrun) Cords in Mankato. He was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Delmar attended country school and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1954. On June 29, 1955, he married Marion Mason, they celebrated 56 years of marriage. He farmed all his life in Decoria Township. Delmar was a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and a past member of the church council, Farmers Union, and was a past director of Benco Electric for 21 years. Delmar enjoyed music of all kinds and playing concertina with his friends.

Delmar is survived by his wife, Marion of Mankato; four children, son, Randall (Laurie Hawker) Cords of rural Mankato and their children, Angela (Aaron) Olson, Scott (Gretchen Ingvoldstad) Cords of rural Mankato, son, Steven Cords of rural Mankato and his son, Corey (Jenny Ivers) Cords and their son, Carter Joseph Cords, daughter, Brenda (Richard) Nelson of Hudson, Ohio and their children, Jered, Tanner, and Brandon Nelson, son, Bradley (Christine Edstrom) Cords of rural Mankato and their children, Rachel and Amy Jo Cords.

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin on April 22, 1989 and Edna on September 11, 2008.
