Judith A. Sheehan, age 69 of North Mankato died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Laurels Peak, Mankato after a battle with cancer for three years.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in Tivoli Cemetery.
Judie was born May 24, 1942 to Kenneth C. and Helene (Weiss) Watkins in Rochester, MN. She graduated from John Marshall High in Rochester and attended Mankato State for one year. Judie was united in marriage to William "Bill" Sheehan on August 22, 1961 in Rochester. She worked in the insurance industry with the majority of her time at State Farm Insurance Company and was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Judie was a volunteer for Junior Achievement and Special Olympics and in earlier years was active with youth groups and as a Sunday-School teacher. She was also a host for foreign exchange students through MSU. Judie enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, crafts, reading, playing cards, music, dancing, travel, spending time at the lake and entertaining family and friends. She had a great passion for life, was an avid sports fan and was very active with social and community events.
Judie is survived by her children, Chris (Randy) Owen of Watertown, SD; Cyndi (Scott) Jakel of New Ulm; Paul (Amy) Sheehan of Austin; grandchildren, Hannah and Miriam Jakel; Patrick and Molly Sheehan; brother, David (Lois) Watkins of St. Paul; nieces, Sarah and Molly Watkins.
Judie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
