Clayton Bert Fleming, age 87, of Garden City, died Friday, June 10, 2011 at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 13, 2011 at North Mankato Mortuary "NORTHVIEW, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, with Rev. Nancy Dreier, officiating. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service on Monday.

Clayton was born on October 29, 1923 in Garden City, Minnesota, to Jesse Lee and Luola (Nickerson) Fleming. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1942. Clayton served his country in the U.S. Army. Clayton farmed all of his life. He was a past member of the Garden City Farm Service Board for 21 years and the Garden City Cemetery Association. He enjoyed gardening, cracking walnuts, tending to his plum trees, and spending time outdoors.

Clayton is survived by his sister, Shirley (Don) Chryst of Albert Lea; two sisters-in-law, Marjory Fleming of Mankato and Lu Fleming of Hanska; many nieces and nephews.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Eunice Bartsch, Betty Prust, and Evelyn Buck; two brothers, E. Wendell Fleming and Darrell Fleming.
