Jean Ann Heins, age 57, of Good Thunder, died Monday, May 30, 2011 at her home surrounded by family.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church, Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph Maurer Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. before the service at the church. Burial will be in Barnard Valley View Cemetery in Good Thunder. Memorials are preferred to VINE. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Jean was born December 10, 1953 to Dean and Norma (Bergemann) Peters. She was a 1971 graduate of Amboy-Good Thunder High School, and also attended Rasmussen College. Jean was united in marriage to Dale Russell Heins on March 15, 1975. They resided in Good Thunder. She worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 18 years. Jean had a love for cooking, which led her to employment at several local restaurants. Other interests included gardening and watching softball. She was director of Thunder Valley Softball Association for many years and a member of the Good Thunder Mothers Club. What brought her the most happiness was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jean was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and volunteered for VINE.

Jean is survived by her husband, Dale; 2 sons, Nathan (Dana) of Amboy, Shawn (Angie) of Mapleton; daughter, Betsy Heins and fianc" Joel Bertram of St. Louis Park; 3 grandchildren, Caden, Tyler, and Hallie Heins; parents, Dean and Norma of Good Thunder; 4 brothers, Russell (Connie) Peters, Lynn Peters, Terry (Tami) Peters, and Bob Peters, all of Good Thunder; brother-in-law, Carl Heins of Port Republic, VA; mother-in-law, Donna Heins of Good Thunder; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her grandparents; father-in-law, E. Russell "Bud" Heins; sister-in-law, Judy Heins.
