John "Jack" Robert Sims, age 83, of Mankato died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato. No services will be held in accordance with Jack's wishes. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Jack was born February 26, 1924 to John A. and Lillian (Jenkins) Sims in Waterloo, Iowa. He graduated from Oak Park High School, Oak Park, IL. Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942-1946. He was united in marriage to Doris Vidas on November 10, 1965 in Belvedere, IL. Jack was employed in finance and management and was president of the School Employees Credit Union until retiring in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing pool.
Jack is survived by his wife, Doris of Mankato; daughter, Deborah (Carl) White of Nashville, TN; step-son, Daniel (Debra) Vidas of Portland, OR; step-daughter, Mary Vidas of Rockford, IL; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Annmary Frymark; step-sister, Marilyn Walthall.
