Virvinia "Vinnie" B. Johnson, age 88, of Mankato, died June 17, 2007 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.
Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Mankato with Rev. Dean Wolf and Rev. Pam Serdar officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Windom, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
Vinnie was born January 16, 1919 to John and Huldah (Anderson) Minikus in Benson, Minnesota. She graduated from Benson High School in 1936 and attended one year at the Minnesota School of Business. Vinnie was united in marriage to Charles B. Johnson on February 15, 1941 in Windom. They moved to the Mankato area in 1955 and Vinnie worked for several area businesses as a bookkeeper.
Vinnie was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she was a past treasurer of the UMW, member of Sarah-Esther Circle, funeral chairman for many years before retiring at the age of 80, and a great supporter of the church youth, especially the youth choir. She was a past board member of Lakeview Methodist Home in Fairmont. Vinnie also played in bridge clubs and loved to cook. She was proud to volunteer her time with many good causes.
Vinnie is survived by two daughters, Jacquie (Paul) Hudrlik of Lake Washington, Janis (Chuck) Borstad of St. James; four grandchildren, Jon (Julie) Hudrlik of Mankato, Jay Hudrlik of Owatonna, Karen (Dave) Starr of Des Moines, IA, Kristin (Dave) Surver of Long Lake, MN; ten great-grandchildren, Danielle, Samantha, Charlie, Noah, and Jazmyn Hudrlik, Joshua, Laura, Betsy Surver, Grace and Erika Starr.
Vinnie was preceded in death by husband, Charles; brother, Lowell Minikus; and her parents.
