Marvin Harold Borchardt, age 74, of Mankato died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

Funeral service will be held at10:30 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Immanuel St. Joseph's Cardiac Center or Grace Lutheran Church.

Marvin was born on April 4, 1933 to Arno and Alma (Bartsch) Borchardt in Good Thunder, MN. Marvin served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On September 25, 1954 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Hassing at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. He was employed by Kato Engineering as a plant manager. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Morson-Ario VFW. Marvin enjoyed fixing things, the Twins and Vikings, spending time at his lake home, spending the winters in Florida, gardening, camping, polka music, and spending time with his grandchildren. Marvin was proud to be an organ donor.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Borchardt of Mankato; four children, Gary Borchardt and his wife Gwen of rural Mankato, Scott Borchardt and his wife Nancy of Janesville, Pam Braam and her husband Richard of Mankato, and Lisa Mueller and her husband Brian of Mankato; six grandchildren, Marybeth Wilhelmi and her husband Billy, Terra (fianc"e Wayne Harrington) and Carissa Borchardt, Britni, Keeli and Kadyn Mueller; two step-grandchildren, Brock and Leah Tarpy; great-grandson, Tyler Wilhemi; two brothers, Wilmer Borchardt and his wife MaryJane of Iowa, and Ivan Borchardt and his wife Donna of Good Thunder; sister, Lavone Anderson and her husband Lyle of Owatonna; aunt, Evelyn Prigge of Lewiston; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and sister-in-law.
