Loretta Ann Doering, age 99, of Mapleton, formerly of Good Thunder, died Monday, June 11, 2007 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Good Thunder. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Good Thunder. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. John's Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
Loretta was born April 12, 1908 in Clements, MN to Gottlieb and Laura (Seeman) Sonnabend. She and her family moved to Good Thunder in her infancy. Loretta was united in marriage to Frederick W. Doering on September 12, 1933 in Good Thunder. She was a homemaker and farmwife, and was also employed as a cook at the Mapleton Community Home and St. John's Lutheran School in Good Thunder. She later retired from Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital as a nurse's aide. Loretta was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and it's Ladies Aid in Good Thunder. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, visiting, and was a dedicated Minnesota Twins fan.
Loretta is survived by her three children, MSG Fred (Helen) Doering Jr. of Duluth, Diann (Harvey) Kendall of Monticello, and Gerald (Nancy) Doering of Mapleton; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Walter (Lorraine) Doering of Madelia; sister-in-law, Sophia (Alfred) Hiller of Good Thunder; also nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1987; one granddaughter, Pamela; four brothers and two sisters.
