Bonita Ruth Sageng, age 85, of Mankato died Sunday, June 3, 2007 in Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato with Rev. Al Girtz officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Library Fund.
Bonita was born October 23, 1921 in Brainerd, MN to Andrew and Bessie (Faltz) Olson. She attended grade school in Mason City, IA and graduated from Waukon High School, Waukon, IA in 1940. She attended Luther College in Decorah, IA and Waukon Junior College. She married Lars Sageng on September 25, 1949 in Waukon, IA. Bonita worked as a secretary for Aluminum Company of America for 11 years, financial secretary at Bethlehem Lutheran Church for 8 years, and secretary for Brown Drug Company for 10 years. She was a member of Sons of Norway and Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she held several offices in the Bethlehem Church Women, was a member of the library board, the ladies circle, a Sunday school teacher, and sang in the choir. She enjoyed music, reading, and knitting.
Bonita is survived by her three sons and their wives, Erik and Shelly Sageng of Annapolis, MD, Hans and Beth Sageng of Mankato, John and Brenda Sageng of Carthage, MO; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild expected in December; two sisters, Betty Thorson of Memphis, TN, Mary Jean Brown of Shell Rock, IA; nieces and nephews.
Bonita was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.
