Lawrence "Larry" L. Lentz, age 79, of Good Thunder, died peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Oaklawn Health Care Center surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Good Thunder with Rev. Brian Sutton officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 29 from 4-7 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary with a 4 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, or the donor's choice.
Larry was born on October 11, 1929 to Gordon and Violet (Blume) Lentz in Good Thunder. He joined the United States Air Force and served from 1950-1954 during the Korean War. On September 22, 1954 Larry was united in marriage to Catherine Bunde. He was a self-employed truck driver for many years. Larry was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, American Legion Post 616, Moose Lodge 1414, and was a former Good Thunder City Council member. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bird watching, cracking walnuts, word find puzzles, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Catherine; six children: Brian (Connie Jo), Cindy (Darrell) Hanson, Ken (Lynne), Jim (Lynn), Bev (Scott) Dahle, and Christine (Tom) Rahn; nine granddaughters; five grandsons; three brothers: Lester, Harlan, and Wilton Lentz; and one sister Vivian Ziegler. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
