Rev. Richard D. Schriber, age 63, of Madison Lake, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at Mankato House Health Care Center, after six years of Alzheimers Disease.
There will be a visitation at Mankato Mortuary on Tuesday from 4-6:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service with Pastor Roger Gilbert officiating. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Kevin Melin officiating and a two hour visitation prior to the service all at Maplewood Covenant Church in Maplewood, MN. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Mahtomedi.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Association.
Richard was born July 28, 1943 to Alden and Jean (Johnson) Schriber in St. Paul. He graduated from White Bear Lake High School in 1961 and graduated from St. Paul Bible College in 1966. Richard was united in marriage to Nancy McAninch on August 19, 1967. He received his Masters in Psychology and Counseling from St. Marys College in Winona in 1987. Richard served as pastor at several churches in Christian and Missionary Alliance in Minnesota and Nebraska and as pastor at Maplewood Covenant Church in the Twin Cites. Richard worked in the Mankato area for the Thro Health Care System for 11 years. Richard was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in North Mankato. He enjoyed genealogy, history " Indian and Civil War, Garfield comics and Peanut cartoons.
Richard had a great sense of humor and used it in his ministries: such as his Ole and Lena skits, dressing up as a clown, and using magic just to make people happy. Richard loved his work with the elderly and enjoyed taking care of them and their spiritual needs. We will miss him dearly but are thankful that he is with the Lord in heaven.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Nancy; two daughters, Angie (Jason) Lund of North Minneapolis, Sharona (Dieter) Krause of Brooklyn Center; granddaughter, Haley Beekman; father, Alden Schriber of White Bear Lake; brother, Randy (Roxie) Schriber of Hugo; mother-in-law, Dorothy (Glen) Leavitt of Struthers, OH; sisters-in-law, Becky (Bill) Kirkman of Muncie, IN, Jeanne LaRoche of Indianapolis, IN; brother-in-law, Steven (Cheryl) McAninch of West Lafayette, IN; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Schriber and his father-in-law, James McAninch.
