Darlene Mack, age 77, of North Mankato died peacefully Monday, April 30, 2007 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel St. Josephs Hospice. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Darlene was born on November 12, 1929 to Martin and Frieda (Tietje) Ritz in Madelia. She was a 1948 graduate of Truman High School. She married LeRoy Mack on November 12, 1949 in Iowa and were later divorced. Darlene worked as a waitress for many area restaurants as well as for Carlson Craft where she eventually retired. She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and the VFW Post 950 Ladies Auxiliary. Darlene enjoyed gardening, flowers, traveling and loved crossword puzzles. Her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life.
She is survived by five children, Stephen Mack of North Mankato, David (JoAnn) Mack of Apple Valley, Kathleen (Frank) Szabo of Appleton, Patricia (Steve) Peters of Lakeville, and John (Peggy) Mack of Mankato; 11 grandchildren, Jess, Justin, Callie, Nick, Tanner, Robby, Jenna, Taylor, Danny, Stephanie, and Steven; great-granddaughter, Mariah; two sisters, Valora (Marv) Gieseke of Willmar, and Deanna (Roger) Hohenstein of Luck, WI; one brother, Kenneth (Carol) Ritz of Truman; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister.
