John Henry Schultz, age 80, of North Mankato, formerly of Mora, died Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Bart Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
John was born August 15, 1926 in Princeton. He was the son of Fred and Anna (Oliver) Schultz. John attended school in Baldwin Township, rural Princeton. He was united in marriage to Ardys Walker on October 16, 1948 in Minneapolis. John enlisted in the U.S. Army, but was given a medical discharge. He was employed with Land O Lakes in Minneapolis for 32 years. In 1979 he and Ardys became the owners of the Mug Drive-In Restaurant in Mora and operated the business for 16 years. They moved to North Mankato in 2003. John was a member of Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church, and a past member of the Masons, Eastern Star, and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, being outdoors, gardening, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. John was known for his wit and humorous nature.
John is survived by his wife, Ardys of North Mankato; two daughters, Sheila (Drew) Weber of Brooklyn Park and Lori (Wayne) Rykhus of Mankato; four grandchildren, Eric Weber, Kristen Weber and her fianc, Brian McDevitt, Adam Weber, and Masyn Rykhus; three brothers, Charles (Shirley) Schultz of Mounds View, Floyd (Mabel) Schultz of Elk River, Raymond (Jean) Schultz of Milaca; one sister, Helen (Robert) Knapp of Albert Lea; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; three sisters, June Gerth, Loretta Herrewig, and Bethel Schultz; two brothers, Roland and Fred Schultz.
