Joel Joe F. Dauffenbach, age 60, of North Mankato, died Friday April 20, 2007 as the result of an automobile accident in rural North Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday April, 25, 2007 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4 " 8 p.m., Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Loyola Catholic School, or the donors choice.

Joe was born July 3, 1946 to Roy Duke and Monica (Loeffler) Dauffenbach in Mankato. He attended Mankato Area Catholic Schools and graduated from Loyola High School in 1965. Joe served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1966 " 1970 and served two tours in Vietnam. Joe was united in marriage to Betty Schirlinger on September 25, 1976 at the Cathedral in New Ulm. He returned to Mankato and worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years. After retirement Joe worked seasonally for Lawn Pro. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe was very involved in the American Legion Post # 11 and VFW Post # 950. He was honored to serve as a past commander and on the Honor Guard for both local organizations. Joe also was involved with VFW Post # 950 Revelry newspaper which won many state and national awards.

Joe and Betty enjoyed traveling together. They visited 49 states and 32 countries. He also enjoyed bowling, and socializing with family and friends. Joe and Betty especially loved their nieces and nephews and treated them as their own.

Joe is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Betty of North Mankato; mother, Monica Dauffenbach Ahern of North Mankato; three brothers, John (Debby) Dauffenbach of Mahtomedi, MN, Jerry (Donna) Dauffenbach of San Diego, CA, Jim Dauffenbach and special friend, Linda Anderson of Mankato; two sisters, Mary (Gary) Zellmer of North Mankato, Joanie (Dick) Nichols of Elk River, MN; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, sister-in-law, Cheryl, and father-in-law, Herbert.
