Ronald Loren Blekestad, age 52, of Lake Crystal, died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal, with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Thursday.
Ronald was born August 26, 1954 in Madelia. He was the son of Orville and Marilyn (Nelson) Blekestad. Ron was baptized at West Sveadahl Lutheran Church and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia. He was a 1973 graduate of Madelia High School. Ron was united in marriage to Jolene Hoffrogge, they were later divorced. He married Sharon Erickson on February 14, 1996 in Lake Crystal. Ron worked as a supervisor at Golden Pantry in Madelia for many years, a manager at Tradehome Shoes in New Ulm, a supervisor at Van Den Berg Foods and later at Tony Downs Foods where he was employed at the present. Ron enjoyed sports of any kind, especially racing and golf, and also going to any car show with his 1967 Chevy and collecting trophies. He always looked forward to going to his mom and dads house in Madelia to spend time with them. Ron also enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters, and his wife, and loving dog, Lucky. He will be remembered by his wife as the loving, caring, and giving husband that he was.
Ron is survived by his wife, Sharon of Lake Crystal; children, Nicky (Mark) Anderson of Madelia and James Blekestad of Hopkins; stepchildren, Jeff (Julie) Erickson of Vernon Center, Angie (Randy) Rustman of Lake Crystal, and Nikki (Jason) Fredricksen of Lake Crystal; eight grandchildren, Sondra, Norah, Emmet, Chelsey, Bailey, Kayla, Kasey, and Dylan; mother, Marilyn (Donald) Sperstad of Madelia; father, Orville (Adeline) Blekestad of North Dakota; siblings, Rick (Pam) Blekestad of Mankato, Mark Blekestad and special friend, Kim of Madelia, Nancy (Bruce) Buckingham of Madelia, Timothy Sperstad of St. James, and Susan Sperstad and special friend, Larry of La Salle; also aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bessie and Evan Blekestad, Myrtle and Rodney Nelson; and a grandson, Noah John Fredricksen.
