Glenn Thompson age 83, of Mankato, died Friday, March 30, 2007 at Immanuel-St. Josephs Hospital.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. Al Girtz and Rev. Mary Iverson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, ISJ Hospital Oncology Department, or to an organization of the donors choice.
Glenn Harvey Thompson was born July 26, 1923 in White Earth, ND to Theodore and Ida (Torgerson) Thompson. He was a graduate of White Earth High School. He served in the US Army from 1943-1945 and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage on November 21, 1964 to Jean Brecke at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Glenn worked for Farmland Industries for many years as a boiler operator. Glenn was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 11 Mankato, American Legion Post 475 St. Clair, Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed playing bridge and visiting with his many friends.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Jean of Mankato; daughter, Brenda (Allen) Goetsch of New Brighton, MN; three precious granddaughters, Alyson Goetsch and special friend, Brian Bell, Melanie Goetsch and fianc, Daryl Bolicek and Lindsay Goetsch; sisters-in-law, Lois (Joe) Herd of Chadwick, MO, Betty (Gene) White of Sparta, MO; brothers-in-law, Albert (Thain) Schweppe of Forsyth, MO, Kenny Oftedahl of Ankeny, IA; many nieces and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, many sisters and brothers, and a brother-in-law, Roger.
