Sidney Larson, age 98 of Madelia, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2007 at Madelia Church of Christ with Pastor Allen Burnham officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Madelia. Visitation will be held from 2 " 5 p.m., Sunday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Sidney Larson was born December 13, 1908 to William and Nellie (Byro) Larson in Linden Township, Brown County, Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Doris LaFavor on June 23, 1934 in Garden City. Sidney farmed in the area, drove truck for himself, Land O Lakes and Monroe Trucking in Lake Crystal. He also worked for a short time for the City of Lake Crystal. Later he farmed in Ogilvie and Watkins, Minnesota. They moved to Berryville, AR before returning to Madelia.
He was a member of Madelia Church of Christ. Sidney enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, fishing and making things for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Madelia; son Dennis (Sue) Larson of Mankato; grandchildren, Tammy (Jim) Karels, Tess (Jim) Peterson, Tom (Lisa) Larson, Trent (Heather) Larson, Christine Zrust, and Rebecca Fisher; great-grandchildren; Michele, Kara, Christy, Sean, Jimmy, Jessica, Jordan, Logan, Gabby, Jakob, Shelby, Allyson, Caroline, Ethan, Brady, and Tanner; great-great-granddaughter, Naomi; sister, Gladys Engelby of Mankato; brother, Orville (Vera) Larson of Waterville; sister-in-law, Irene Larson of Pine City. Preceded in death by great-grandson, Nick; daughter-in-law, Judy; seven brothers, John, Ingwald, Palmer, Arnold, Vern, Gordon, and Burdie; three sisters, Ruth, Agnes, and Fern.
