Rose Ann Hanson
Lake Crystal, MN " Rose Ann (Kratochvil) Hanson, age 88 of Lake Crystal died on Sunday, March 18, 2007.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Lake Crystal, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m. Friday at Lake Crystal Mortuary with a 6 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, rural Lake Crystal. Memorials may be given to VINE, American Heart Association, or Holy Family Catholic Church.
Rose was born on July 27, 1918 to Barbara and Frank Kratochvil in Britt, Iowa. After graduation from Britt High School in 1936, Rose attended St. Francis School of Nursing in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and graduated in 1939. She served as a registered nurse at the VA Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas from 1940-1945, and later at Waseca Hospital and St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato. Rose married Orville Hanson on February 17, 1947 at Buffalo Center, Iowa. For most of their married life, they lived on their farm near Lake Crystal, where they raised their five children. Rose was an active member at Holy Family Catholic Church and its womens group, Extension Club, Lake Crystal Garden Club, and a volunteer at the Lake Crystal Health Care Center. Rose enjoyed traveling, gardening, canning, playing cards, dancing, Czech heritage, and visiting grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
Among those who cherish Roses memory are children Karyn Divine of Winston-Salem, NC, Arlene (Russell) Larson of Alexandria, Paul Hanson of Lake Crystal, Barbara (Keith) Luck of Maplewood and Alan (Vickie) Hanson of Mankato; as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Rose is also survived by sisters-in-law Velma Hanson, Charlene Hanson, and Lyllah Mae Norland.
Roses family members who have died include her husband, Orville, twin daughter, Eileen, two infant sisters, Ludimilla and Marie, sisters, Helen and Mary Elizabeth Bess , and parents, Barbara and Frank Kratochvil.
