Helen Jane Bohnert, age 89, of Mankato, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Rev. Richard Colletti officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorials are preferred to Blue Earth County Humane Society or to an organization of the donors choice. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Helen was born August 12, 1917 in Faribault to Edward and Emily (Lang) Howe. She was a 1935 Mankato High School graduate. On March 18, 1939, she was united in marriage to Tony Bohnert at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. They made their home in Mankato and raised five children. Helen was a homemaker for her family and was a former member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Helen led a very active social life, visiting with friends and spending time with her family. She loved her dogs.
Survivors include three children, Michael (Darlene) Bohnert of Mankato, Jack (Karyl) Bohnert of Prior Lake, Victoria (James) Goodwater of Hinton, IA; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Violet Barry of Rochester; in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Emily Howe; husband, Tony Bohnert; two sons, David and William; and two sisters.
