Rose Marie Hanson, age 79 of Hanska, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Nora Unitarian Universalist Church, rural Hanska with Rev. Don Rollins officiating. Burial will be at a later date. There will be time following the service to visit with the family. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Rose Marie was born on November 17, 1927 in Hanska to Algot Sr. and Evelyn (Ouren) Blomquist. She graduated from Hanska High School. On July 3, 1946 she was married to Hilmer Hanson in Hanska at the Nora Church. Besides being a homemaker for her family, she was employed at Kraft Foods in New Ulm for 30 years. Rose Marie was a lifetime resident of Hanska until her recent move to New Ulm to live with her daughter, Heidi Franta.
Survivors include her two sons, Randall (Billie) Hanson of North Mankato, Morrie (Charlene) Hanson of Mankato; two daughters, Heidi Franta of New Ulm, Nora Helene (Bill) Wurtz of Hanska; ten grandchildren, Tim, Jamie, Willie, Warren, Nicole, Jeremy, Sean, Karla, Josh, and Matt; nine great-grandchildren, William, Madison, Joey, Mattheus, Mayla, Kyle, Nathan, Jackson, and Elizabeth; siblings, Arlene (Virgil) Schmiesing, Muriel Fredrickson, Algot (Bonita) Blomquist, Richard (Yvonne) Blomquist all of Hanska, Warren (Yvonne) Blomquist of New Ulm, Rebecca (Allen) Johnson of South Sioux City, NE, Maurice Blomquist of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Alice Blomquist of Mankato; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hanson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Dennis Blomquist, and son-in-law, Joey Franta.
