Richard T. "Homie" Kohlmeier, age 40 of Mankato, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 of diabetic complications at his home.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday at North Mankato Mortuary - NORTHVIEW with Rev. Steve Kidder officiating. Visitation will be from 3 " 6 p.m., Sunday at North Mankato Mortuary - NORTHVIEW. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to his children's education fund.

Richard T. Kohlmeier was born September 2, 1970 in Fargo, ND the son of Donald and Dorothy (Bloomgren) Kohlmeier. He graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1989. Richard attended Moorhead State and graduated from Wadena Technical College as an electrician. He was united in marriage to Kelly Ackerman on November 18, 2006 in Spearville, Kansas. Richard was an electrician with BLK Electric and was an electrical contractor at ADM. He was a member of IBEW local # 343.

Richard enjoyed watching and participating in his children's activities, he also was an avid pheasant hunter, fisherman, and loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed people and loved to visit with friends and his family. Richard cherished the time he and Kelly spent traveling to various family events, working around their home, and their fishing trips. He will be greatly missed by those who knew Homie.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Kelly of Mankato; daughter, Brittany Kohlmeier of Morris, MN, and special friend, Dylan Gahm; son, Tyler Kohlmeier of Nisswa, MN; parents, Donald and Dorothy Kohlmeier of Battle Lake, MN; brother, David (Annette) Kohlmeier and children, Gabby, Noelle and Halle of Grand Forks, ND; sisters, Maria Kohlmeier and Becky Kohlmeier and son Buddy of Fergus Falls, MN; grandparents, Ernest and Opal Bloomgren, Bowman, ND; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gil and Sandy Ackerman of Spearville, KS; brothers-in-laws, Scott (Heidy) Ackerman and their children, Kyler, Tess, and Emma of Spearville, KS, Cory (Audrey) Ackerman and their children, Faith, Cheyenne, and Hallie of Spearville, KS; his faithful dog, Axel.
