"Lee" Alethamae Dreyer, age 83, of North Mankato, died on Friday, May 6, 2011 at her home surrounded by family, following a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2011 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Mankato. Visitation will one hour prior to service at the Church on Sunday. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Alethamae Martin Dreyer was born January 31, 1928 to Cecilia and Francis Martin in Bemidji, MN. She graduated from Bemidji High School and on June 6, 1948 married Harold B. Dreyer at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Gordon) Ose in Red Lake, MN. Lee and Harold lived in Sweetwater, TN and Grand Marais, MN before settling in Mankato in 1956. She was a homemaker, mother to four and supported her husband's teaching career. Lee was active at St. John's Episcopal Church. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, and home decorating. Following her divorce in 1981 she worked at Carlson Craft from 1982 to 2002 and was treasurer for the Anglican Orthodox Church of Mankato. After her retirement, she volunteered her time at MRCI Thrift Store from 2004 to 2007. Lee was also a breast cancer survivor.
Lee is survived by her children; Brady (Dee) Dreyer of Mankato, Cara (Mike) Edwards of Rochester, Jonathan (Lisa) Dreyer of Lindenhurst, IL, Heidi (James) Coffey of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Dawn Dreyer, Erik Dreyer, Aaron Dreyer, Sara Dreyer, Brenden Coffey, Jackson Edwards, Annie Edwards, Hanna Coffey; niece, Dianne (Bob) Horna; nephew, Stanton (Betsy) Ose; longtime friends, Elaine Larson, Dick Lurth, Reeve Cumming, Bev Delyea, Milly Quaday and Loretta Becker.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Francis (Sonny) Martin who died in the battle of North Africa in 1943; sister, Carol Martin Ose.
During her last years, Lee was cared for in her home by a team of wonderful caregivers who added greatly to her quality of life and became trusted friends. Her family wishes to thank them for their devotion and friendship.
