Stella Josephine (Floan)Wingert, age 90, of Anoka and recently Mankato, died peacefully Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Laurel's Peak in Mankato.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2011 at North Mankato Mortuary " Northview, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka.

Stella was born February 8, 1921 to Henry and Agnes Floan in Fertile, Minnesota. She graduated from Crookston High School in 1938 and attended Concordia College in Moorhead from 1939-1941. She transferred to the University of Minnesota in the fall of 1941, graduating in 1944. On June 22, 1943, she married Francis Wingert of Good Thunder, Minnesota. Stella worked as a teacher at Rapidan Public Schools from 1943-1946. She taught chemistry, biology, science, and home economics in Coon Rapids. She served as the Assistant Director of School Food Service at the Anoka-Hennepin School District, retiring in 1986. Stella was a member of the Minnesota, and American Association of School Food Service, where she held officer positions including president. She was passionate about nutrition education, an amazing cook, had beautiful gardens, loved traveling the world with Francis and spending time with family, friends, grandchildren, and great grandchild. Stella was active in the Zion Lutheran Church and Anoka community. She was a kind and gentle spirit who cared deeply about family and leaving the world a better place.

Stella is survived by her 3 children, Carolyn (Jim) Burnap of Chatfield, Charles (Rose Lynn) Wingert of Mankato, Mary Wingert of Minneapolis; 3 grandchildren, Russell Burnap and Donald (fianc", Brittany) Burnap of Chatfield, MN, Derek (Ines) Wingert of Mankato; great-grandson, Dallas Burnap; sister, Lillian Broden of Fertile, MN; sister-in-law, Betty Floan of Fertile; and many nieces and nephews.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; son, Steven Wingert; 2 brothers, Wesley Floan, Harris (Irene) Floan; brother-in-law, Chester Broden.
