Patricia Elena (Barker) McAuley, 69, of Mankato, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Friday, April 29, 2011. A gathering of celebration will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at St. Peter Funeral Home/Klein Chapel in St. Peter. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter with Rev. John Michael officiating.

Pat was born on March 11, 1942 to Lester and Maxine (Thompson) Barker in Seattle, Washington. Her family moved back to Mankato and Pat attended school in Mankato until 1956 at which time her family moved to St. Peter. Pat graduated from St. Peter High School in 1960. She attended Mankato State College, where she participated in theatre and studied under Ted Paul. Pat then transferred to the University of Minnesota where she studied nursing. She eventually worked in the healthcare field in Minneapolis, Rochester, St. Peter, and Mankato for most of her professional career, including working with at-risk youth and vulnerable adults.

Pat had a beautiful singing voice. She was a member of the award-winning St. Peter High School Concert Choir. She also sang at weddings, in her church choir, and at area nursing homes. Pat played the cello in her Junior High School orchestra. Pat's other hobbies included playing the piano and reading. Pat had been a congregant of both Assemblies of God church in St. Peter, and Grace Baptist church in Mankato.

Pat was an extraordinary person who was extremely generous to everyone she met. Every person that was blessed enough to know her, was blessed by her. Her humor and positive personality affected everyone who met her. She will be truly missed.

Pat is survived by her daughters, Patricia and Kelly McAuley; grandsons, Matthew Kielty and Derek Mason; granddaughters, Carissa and Alondra Ramirez; great-grandsons Christopher and Kaidan Kielty; brothers Robert (Arlene) Barker, and Scott Barker; sisters Marilyn (Kenny) Tollefson, and Carolyn Barker; and many nieces and nephews.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lisa; and her sister, Candace.
