Dennis Sandland, age 68, of Mankato, died surrounded by family Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Word of Life Free Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Tim Hinrichs officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.
Dennis Odean Sandland was born November 5, 1942 to James and Bernice (Johnson) Sandland in Saint Peter, MN. He attended high school in St. Peter until moving to Fairfax, where he graduated in 1960. On May 30, 1964, he married Carol Wilson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Dennis and Carol moved to Orlando, FL, where he owned Denny's Carpet Cleaning for 10 years. He was also employed with Shineway in Mankato, and later, Ecolab for 13 years. Dennis enjoyed collecting antiques and tractors, and loved music, gardening, and reading. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Dennis is survived by wife, Carol; two daughters, Kellie (Todd) Kopischke of Vernon Center, Melinda (Shawn) Busse of Rapidan; son, Christopher Sandland of St. Paul and former daughter-in-law, Heather Sandland; 9 grandchildren, James, Andrew, and Elizabeth Kopischke, Benjamin and Emily Busse, Skyler, Ezra, and Noah Sandland, and Rylee Sandland; father, James Sandland; mother-in-law, Mattie Ferguson; 2 brothers, Donald (Pam) Sandland, Dudley (Sharon) Sandland; sister, Debbie (Gerry) Morris; many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Sandland; and two grandchildren, Hannah and Michael Kopischke.
