Arnie Louis Kopischke, age 76, of Mankato went home to be with Jesus His Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at New Creation World Outreach Church, Mankato with Rev. Greg Stone of Jesus Assembly of God, St. Peter, officiating. Visitation will be from 11a.m.-1p.m., Wednesday at church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Mapleton. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Arnie was born November 10, 1934 to Arnold Ludwick and Dorothy (Graf) Kopischke in Mankato. He attended school in Alma City, Pemberton, VOTEC and MSU in Mankato. He married Dorothy Mae Schull on May 15, 1954 at St John's Lutheran Church, Mapleton. She died in 1998. He married Vicky Lee Rodriguez on October 2, 1998. Arnie worked for AMECO/Midtex from 1953-68 and then for by Kato Engineering, retiring in 1999. He received his HAM Radio license in 1962, call sign WA"DFT. He served as president of the Mankato Radio Club and Midwest section of the Amateur Radio Missionary Service. He also served on the board of Youth for Christ, the committee of the Southern Minnesota Youth Outreach, volunteered for Junior Achievement, Salvation Army, Red Cross, and Mankato ACT. He conducted Sunday morning worship for residents of Mankato House for over 40 years and was involved with Men's Bible Study Fellowship International. Arnie and his wife, traveled seven times to Borneo, Indonesia as volunteers for medical mission work and six times when returning they toured the Middle East. He shared his experiences of his travels with churches and other organizations. He was instrumental in bringing Old Country Buffet to Mankato and enjoyed being a "Grandparent" at Royal Family Kids Camp. Arnie was a member of the Jesus Assembly of God, St. Peter and enjoyed antique radios, volunteer work, traveling, bible study, music, photography, singing, magic, cooking, and going to rummage sales.
Arnie is survived by his wife, Vicky; daughter, Rita (Paul) Schweim of Mankato; son, Rodney (Lori) Kopischke of Coon Rapids; bonus children, Dawn (Brian) Kloos of New Ulm, DelRoy (Bobbie) Johnson and Daron (Karen) Johnson all of St. James, Darla (Troy) Hanson of Blue Earth; four grandchildren and great-grandchildren and thirteen bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Luanne (Myron) Louks of Claremont; many nieces and nephews.
Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Dorothy in 1998; and sister, Glenda Jacobsen in 1986.
