Hector T. Seys, age 93 of rural Mankato, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 18, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair with Fr. Robert Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, April 17, 2011 at North Mankato Mortuary-Northview and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Hector Thaddeus was born January 11, 1918 to August and Emma (Quartier) Seys in rural Mankato. He attended country school and farmed with his father until he entered the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. On April 14, 1947, Hector was united in marriage to Leona Marie Jongbloedt at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. They farmed near St. Clair until 1980 when he retired. However, Hector continued farming with his son, Ken until the Fall of 2010. He loved farming, it was his life. Hector also enjoyed his 4-wheeler, playing cards, watching television, and taking care of the birds and his tomato plants.
Hector is survived by his 6 children: Kenneth (Luanne) Seys of rural Mankato, Shirley (Pete) Eide of Shakopee, Jane (James Troy) Seys of Dayton, OH, Steve (Karen) Seys of rural Mankato, Dorothy (Mike) Tipler of rural Mankato and Andy (Denise) Seys of North Mankato; 17 grandchildren: Jennifer, Tim, Josh, Heidi, Joe, Sarah, Zach, Jacob, Eliza, Isaiah, Ryan, Lisa, April, Adam, Aaron, Ryan and Michael; 17 great-grandchildren: Amelia, Connor, Kassidy, Jada, Bianca, Isaiah, Alexandra, Bria, Logan, Lilly, Kylie, Austin, Lucas, Nicholas, Blake, Olivia and Jude; son-in-law, David Brenner; 3 siblings: Mary Depuydt, Jerome (Janice) Seys and George Seys; 3 sisters-in-law: Eileen, Ignatia and Janice Seys; and other extended family.
Hector was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leona in 1990; daughter, Jeanette Brenner; infant daughter; 5 siblings: Henry (Irma) Seys, Martha (Valere) Pluym, Oscar, Peter, and Allie Seys; brother-in-law, John Depuydt; and 2 sisters-in-law: Kay and Shirley Seys; and good friend, Della Halter.
