Frederick Wendel Schimek, age 90, of Eagle Lake, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society in Waterville, MN.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be from 12-1:30 p.m., Monday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Memorials may be given to Hospice Care or to the American Heart Association. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Freddie was born May 28, 1920 in Le Ray Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota to Joseph and Mary (Drummer) Schimek. He attended country school and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944. Frederick was united in marriage to Rosalia Kastenmeier on May 25, 1946 in Blue Earth, MN. He spent his life as a farmer and had started and performed in "Freddie's Concertina Band". Frederick also enjoyed old time music and playing cards.

Freddie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosalia; cousins; and many nieces and nephews.

Freddie was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
