Jean Doyle Flood, age 78, died peacefully May 8, 2009 at Pathstone Living Center, Mankato, MN. She was known for her infectious laugh, her giving heart, and her love to the Lord. She was Matriarch to an extended family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2009 at New Creation World Outreach Church, 1124 North River Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday at church. Luncheon will follow the service at the church. A private burial will be held at Kern's Oak Grove Cemetery, North Mankato, MN for family members following the luncheon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to New Creation World Outreach Church. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Jean Doyle Flood was born in Sioux Fall, South Dakota, on January 11, 1931. She was the daughter of Frank J. and Ellen M. (Brudvig) Doyle. Jean was the youngest of five and was an identical twin to Joan Doyle Breuer. Jean was raised and schooled in Sioux Falls. In 1950 she was married to Charles "Chuck" Flood and began their family of seven children. They resided in Mankato, Minnesota from 1962-1979. Jean was extremely active in raising her children.
After their family was raised, they relocated to Paradise Valley, Arizona in 1979. While in Arizona, Jean began her career with Friedman Marketing. She was promoted to Production Manager and was relocated to New York for two years, then to Salinas, California, for nine months. In 1996 she moved back to Mankato and continued to travel to trouble shoot low production Marketing Groups on a part time basis until 2005.
Jean is survived by her seven children, Char Marie Flood (Chicago, IL), Jeff and Jayne Flood (Mankato, MN), Jeannine and Mike Ayers (Maplewood, MN), Dave Flood (Bailey, CO), Pam and Vince Oselette (Des Moines, IA), Nancy and Richard De Glymes (Newcastle, CA), Kelly and Denny Hopp (Nicollet, MN); thirteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Jean Doyle Flood was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ellen Doyle; her sisters, Connie Howes, Norma Venables, Mable Tobin, and Joan Doyle Breuer; along with her husband, Charles Flood.
