Thomas L. "Tom" Roos, age 71, of Mankato died, Sunday, April 19, 2009 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2009 at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour before service on Friday. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Tom was born September 12, 1937 to Robert Roos and Wreatha (Rowland) Roos in Mankato. Tom grew up in Mankato attending Mankato High School, and later Mankato College. Tom served several years in the United States Army stationed mostly in Japan (Okinawa). He married Diane L. Hegdal from St. Peter on September 30, 1961. He was employed by Cost Ambulance service prior to settling into a long term advertising career with "The Yellow Pages" before retiring in 1986. Tom was a lifetime member of the Mankato Elks Club and a member of Hilltop United Methodist Church.

Tom spent 4 years in Florida where he enjoyed watching the beautiful sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico with family & friends. He was always on a search for a school of dolphins and the binoculars very seldom left his side. He recently returned to his home and beloved friends in Mankato.

Tom is survived by two sons, Bradley and wife, Vicki Todd Roos of London, England and their children, Clayton and Lillian, son, Brian and wife, Katrina Vrooman Roos of Charlotte, North Carolina and their children, Lydia and Vivian; uncle, Stan Kuhl of Mason City, IA; two sisters-in-law, Sherry (Robert) Warneke of Nisswa and Patricia Roos of Edina; brother-in-law, Harlan (Kirsti) Hegdal of St. Paul; and extended family.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane in 2002; his brother and best friend, Warren; and his parents, Robert and Wreatha Roos.
