Frederick Harvey Poate, age 98, of rural North Mankato died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Mankato Mortuary with Rev. Rebecca Sullivan officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery, Nicollet Township, Nicollet County.

Fred was born March 31, 1911 to Frederick Harvey and Annie Elizabeth (Proctor) Poate in Mankato. He graduated from North High School in Minneapolis. He was united in marriage to Joy M. Wolfram on June 12, 1964 in Minneapolis. He was employed by various companies in Minneapolis. He moved to a farm near Judson where he farmed until retirement and also worked for Judson Implement. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Judson. Fred enjoyed trains, attending threshing shows, and camping on the North Shore.

Fred is survived by his wife, Joy of rural North Mankato; son, Bob Poate of Richfield; and three nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother.
