Gertrude Ann Dilly, age 91, of Mankato, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Golden Living Center - Hillcrest in Wayzata.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Epilepsy Foundation, or Donor's Choice.

Gertrude was born October 12, 1917 to Robert and Gurina "Gena" Josephina (Johnson) Jensen in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1934 and later Mankato Commercial College. Gertrude was united in marriage to Vernon H. Dilly on June 4, 1949 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato. Gertrude and Vernon lived in Salem, South Dakota for seven years, before moving to Mankato in 1956. She worked for Key City Insurance Agency, Mankato for 25 years.

Gertrude was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she belonged to church circles and church choir for numerous years. She enjoyed reading, baking pies, canning tomatoes, planting geraniums, doing crossword puzzles, traveling to Burntside Lake near Ely for summer vacations, and tending to her many cats. She raised four successful children and was blessed with nine wonderful grandchildren and one great-grandson, born two days before Gertrude died. She loved her church and cherished her family.

Gertrude is survived by three daughters, Lynn (Jim) Morris of Evanston, IL, Cheryl (Brad) Jones of Wayzata, Gina Dilly of Rochester; son, Mark (Jeanne) Dilly of Inverness, IL; nine grandchildren, Carisa (Nathan) Stangler of Hopkins, James Stang of Berkeley, CA, Douglas Morris of Sydney, Australia, Nicholaus Dilly of Chicago, Suzanne Jones of Wayzata, Laura Dilly of Chicago, Lindsay Stang of Chicago, Richard Jones of Palo Alto, CA, Bennett Dilly of Chicago; great-grandson, William Stangler; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gertrude was preceded in death by parents; husband, Vernon on October 13, 2003 and brother, Paul (Eunice) Jensen.
