Ruth Constance Sandstrom, age 86, of Lake Crystal died Friday, April 3, 2009 at Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church, Lake Crystal with Rev. Nancy Dreier officiating. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at church on Tuesday.
Ruth was born November 4, 1922 to Gregor and Eldri (Glimsdal) Lokre in Madelia. She was united in marriage to Norval H. Sandstrom on August 25, 1944 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Butternut, MN. She was a longtime employee of Shari Candy retiring in November of 1988. She was also a caring homemaker for her family and made the holidays a very special event. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the Rachel Circle, and was involved in the Ladies Quilting Group. Ruth was also a former Sons of Norway member and was very proud of her heritage. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, helping her family, and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Gary Sandstrom and wife, Diane of Lake Crystal, Douglas Sandstrom and wife, Darlene of Longville; five grandchildren, Eli Sandstrom of Rapidan, Dustin Sandstrom and fianc", Lindsay Warschaurer of Lake Crystal, Wade Sandstrom of Bemidji, Shelby (Sean) Lewis of Silverdale, WA, and Kylee Sandstrom of Bemidji; three great-grandchildren, Arianna and Mallory Lewis, and Coral Sandstrom; sister, Arlene Petrauskas of Santa Barbara, CA; three brothers, Erling Lokre of Madelia, Palmer (Bonnie) Lokre of LaSalle, and Gehard (Doris) Lokre of Marshfield, WI; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, McClain Sandstrom, Jerome "Jerry" Sandstrom, Leslie Sandstrom, Lorraine Richards, LaDonna Nygaard, Darlene (John) Kotz, and Norma (John) Christianson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norval on July 15, 1998; two brothers, Paul (Adeline) Lokre, and Arnold Lokre; sister, Margaret (Bruce) McDonald.
