Helen Arlene Fredericksen, age 81, of Lake Crystal, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 while surrounded by her family and minister at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Burial will be in Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.

Arlene was born on October 28, 1927 in Winnebago. She was the daughter of James and Edna (Cochran) Caudle. Arlene was a 1945 graduate of Garden City High School. She was united in marriage to Karl Fredericksen on July 19, 1947 in Vernon Center. Arlene was a homemaker for her family. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal. Arlene enjoyed golf, reading, sewing, and shopping.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Karl of Lake Crystal; three children, Janice (Robert) Baier of Rochester, Susan Blythe and friend, Gary More of Lake Crystal, and Jeffrey (Karri) Fredericksen of Lake Crystal; eight grandchildren, Hope (Mike) Aikens, Nicole (Ghassan) Madkour, Chandler (Molly) Hegg, Karla (Kris) Dutton, James (Christy) Blythe, Anna Blythe and friend, Jeff Haas, Kiera (Joshua) Voelker, Thea Fredericksen and friend, Cody Lillo; six great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Dean) Mertesdorf of Lake Crystal; brother-in-law, John (Janice) Fredericksen of Lake Crystal; sister-in-law, Ruth Fredericksen of Lake Crystal; also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, David.
