John L Roberts

John L. Roberts, age 74, of Mankato, died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Monday at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the mortuary and continues one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato.

John Lennis Roberts was born October 1, 1934 in Mankato to Luther and Elteen (Thurston) Roberts. He was a graduate of Mankato High School. John served his country in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Nancy Sue Larson on December 12, 1960 at First Presbyterian Church in Mankato. John was employed as a truck driver for Hubbard Milling. He enjoyed racing, reading, and spending time with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his seven children, Joyce (Mark) Chester of New Ulm, Duwayne (Melody) Roberts of Mankato, Jeff Roberts of Kasota, Jayne (Dave) Volk of Mankato, Sherry Roberts and special friend, Heath of Mankato, Clark Roberts and Luther Roberts, both of Mankato; 27 grandchildren; two brothers, Merwin Roberts and Ken (Marion) Roberts; two sisters, Loretta Neal and Marge Allen.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Sue in 1981; two children and two grandchildren.
