Julian F Nowacki

Julian F. Nowacki, age 88, of Mankato, died Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the Mapleton Community Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Brian Sutton and Rev. Peter Nosbush officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 2 " 5 p.m., Sunday at Mankato Mortuary with a 2:00 p.m., prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour before the service on Monday at the church.

Julian was born to Michael and Mary (Grembowski) Nowacki at his familys farm east of Argyle, MN on February 23, 1918. At 16 years old he left the farm to work in a CC camp. In 1938 he was hired at Two Rivers Farm. He married Iona Bublitz at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Hallock on September 16, 1940. They purchased the Bublitz farm near Lancaster, MN. After farming for 10 years they sold their farm and moved to North Mankato. In 1952 he was hired by Home Gas Co. in Mankato and in 1963 Julian was transferred to Willmar, MN. Julian worked for Home Gas which became Texgas until his retirement in 1983. The couple lived in the Willmar area until 1996 when they returned to Mankato. Julian loved farming and being outdoors and was always known for his abundant garden. His marriage to Iona stood the test of time lasting 64 years before she was called to her eternal rest.

Julian is survived by six children, Ken (Terry) Nowacki of Mankato, Diane (John) Schimek of Easton, MN, Rosemary (Jim) Gardner of Winfield, KS, Donald (Germaine) Nowacki of Mankato, Edward (Gloria) Nowacki of Spicer, MN, John Nowacki of Waseca;; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Ekman of Denver, CO; brother, Tony Nowacki of El Paso, TX; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Iona; three grandchildren; three brothers, and two sisters.
