Mary J. Roberts, age 86, of Lake Crystal died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Luther Memorial Home, Madelia.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal, with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Madelia. Visitation will be one hour before service at church. Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jane was the third child born to James Nesbitt and Alberta (Noe) McCarthy in Madelia on January 30, 1921. She attended country school district 122 and in 1932 she moved with her family to a farm near Madelia where she finished grade school. In 1936 she moved with her family to a farm near Lake Crystal. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1940. She had been a 4-H leader and had worked at Tom Owens Bakery and Bill Deutsch Drug Store of Lake Crystal.

On February 12, 1943 she was united in marriage to Earl T. Roberts at her parents home. Mary enjoyed being a homemaker. Mary was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal and a former member of Jerusalem Presbyterian Church until it closed. She was a 50 year plus member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fern Chapter 4 of Lake Crystal and present member of Ceral Chapter 2 of Mankato. She enjoyed embroidery, needlepoint, and making pumpkin pies which she gave away to people in their time of sorrow. She enjoyed reading and visiting with her many friends.

Mary is survived by her husband, Earl; one sister, Charlotte Collins of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law, William Lee Roberts and wife, Ann of Tucson, AZ; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Mary was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
