Eldore Wendt age 85, of Mankato died Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Hillcrest Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. Al Girtz officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Eldore Herman Wendt was born December 29, 1921 in Willow Creek Township, Blue Earth County to John and Amelia Wendt. Eldore served in the US Army from 1942 until he was honorably discharged in 1946. On February 2, 1956, he was married to Neola Jane Babler in Mankato. Eldore was employed as a cement finisher with Ario Construction for 35 years and retired in 1987. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 11, and the Disabled Veterans of America. He loved to hunt and fish and was an avid sports fan, especially basketball and baseball. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and dedicated his time to helping others.
Survivors include his four children, Cindy Wendt of San Diego, CA, John Wendt of Mankato, Paul (Barb) Wendt of North Mankato, Paulette Wendt of Mankato; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ashley, and Lindsey Sorgatz; five great-grandchildren; two siblings, Donald Wendt and Lillian McCall both of Winnebago; sister-in-law, Mildred (Allan) McKenzie of Little Rock, AK; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eldore was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Mary Jane; and three siblings, Herbert Wendt, Paul Wendt, and Ruth Johnson.
