Elizabeth "Betty Sue Worrell" Horan, age 50, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at her Mankato residence.

Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Pastor John Petersen officiating. There will be a time to visit with the family from 4-7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday all at Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Arrangements are being handled with Mankato Mortuary.

Elizabeth was born June 12, 1958 in Minneapolis to James Jr. and Margaret (Pelant) Horan. She grew up in Rochester, attended and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1976. During her high school years, she played on the varsity tennis team. While attending college at MSU, Betty Sue pursued a degree in physical education and also played varsity tennis. On October 28, 1983, Betty Sue married Brad Worrell in Mankato. They later divorced, but continued to share the joy in raising two beautiful children together.

Betty Sue was a longtime employee of ComputoService in Mankato. In the fall of 2005, she moved to Scottsdale, AZ and was employed with the Coleman-Hines Company. Upon her return to Mankato in 2007, she began her employment with the Alltel Company.

Besides being a member and past Sunday School teacher at Christ the King Lutheran Church, she also had been a volunteer with VINE, Season for Sharing, Echo Food Shelf, The Sharing Tree, United Way, and the Salvation Army. Betty Sue was very involved in her children's lives, and was considered a "second mom" to many of their friends.

Betty Sue will be missed by her loving children, Lisa Worrell and Jason Worrell; former husband, Brad Worrell all of Mankato; siblings, Tim (Jennifer) Horan of Plymouth, Tom (Janet) Horan of Denver, CO, Steve (Sherry) Horan of Bettendorf, IA, Meg (Dennis) Sullivan of Mankato; former mother-in-law, Ardyce Christianson of Mankato; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Betty Sue was preceded in death by her parents.
